Reminiscence WS in Chiang Mai

Ikuro Shimizu

Currently, the aging of the population is progressing in Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, and the maintenance and improvement of the physical and mental health of the elderly is emerging as a social problem. With the aim of maintaining the physical and mental health of the elderly, we will hold a workshop based on Regional Reminiscence (regional recollection) at the community museum, which is a local resource, and consider the possibility of its utilization. Reminiscence, proposed by Robert Butler, is a method that contributes to maintaining physical and mental health and contributing to improving QOL by talking about memories of the elderly while enjoying memories of the past through nostalgic household utensils and spaces. In this workshop, the Reminiscence method, which is widely used in Japanese community museums, will be used in the THN community museum, and at the same time, we will use the museum as a center for the elderly, and at the same time contribute to the elderly society. Aim to offer. This time, as a start (trial), we held a briefing session on Reminiscence and a simple workshop for villagers and the elderly.
